~Older
Is not wisdom found among the aged?
Does not long life bring understanding?
Job 12:12
GO:
Honestly? For as long as I can remember I have wished that I looked older. Age is beauty to me. Age is wisdom. Age is grace. It’s not that I want to look old, I’d just like to look my age.
It happened again today. We were at lunch with Nate’s friends from work and Nate mentioned how long we’ve been married. They all stared at me. Finally one of them said what they were all thinking, “You don’t look old enough to have been married that long.”
Don’t get me wrong, it can be flattering at times. And it was funny when one of the students in the youth ministry thought Nate had actually married one of the youth students (because I must still be in high school). But it’s not fun when I’m walking through the mall with my three kids in tow… Then I get that look from those women who assume I’m too young to have children.
Good or bad, youthful is how God created me; in His image. I just pray people will see through my youthful appearance to the “old soul” hiding just beneath the surface.
“Age is beauty to me. Age is wisdom. Age is grace.” I agree. I have always looked up to the older women in my life who seem to reflect such beauty, wisdom and grace. Now, as I am becoming one of these “older” women I, too, pray that others can see “old soul”, a soul reflecting HIS, hiding in me.
Great post-

Love the way you worded that! That’s my hope too. 🙂
I also have that youthful appearance. I’ll be turning 28 this year but people would always think my age is below 25. Some even thought I was a teenager. I find it annoying sometimes. But what I find more annoying is when the younger ones make fun of me because I’m “old.” I don’t really find it funny. I hope they’ll learn to discover the value of people who are older than them and that getting older is truly a gift.
God bless! 🙂

Ha! Don’t ya just want to smack those young’uns around sometimes!?! 😉 They just need to grow up some, then they’ll get it.
Blessings right back at you!
I know exactly what you are talking about. I’m 36 and some of my patients still tell me I don’t look old enough to be a nurse. I hope when I’m sixty I will start appreciating it. 🙂
Ha! I was carded again at dinner last night. The waitress didn’t believe that we were celebrating our 13th anniversary because I didn’t look old enough. 🙂
