Being Grateful for the Remarkable Perspective of Memory
I am thankful. I am thankful that God has given me memory. I appreciate the ability to revisit a time in my mind and bring back the emotion into today. I can feel all the confusion, hope, and passion of a time long ago as if it were happening all over again.
For the last several weeks I have been working on a series of blog posts about marriage. Not only has it been fun to write but I’ve found God has truly been blessing me through the experience of remembering. This year we will celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary on September 13th. Remembering the way that God brought us together has rekindled all the emotion of 13 years ago.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he
created him; male and female he created them.
~Genesis 1:27
It’s amazing and fascinating to me the way God created our minds. Memory is an absolute treasure. The ability to feel as if you’re almost really back in a particular place. It’s as if in the emotion you are transported back in time… Or maybe it’s more like being omnipresent, in two times at once, living in both simultaneously. How divine!
Father in Heaven, Thank you for giving me memory. I pray that I would be able to see every moment as a memory making moment, never taking time for granted. In Jesus name, Amen.
what a great thing to be thankful for… i definitely take it for granted sometimes. but what a blessing… to be able to recall the special moments of our lives and relationships. thanks for joining in this week!
Thanks for your encouragement Julia. I wish my memory were half as good as my husbands. 😉
